Bio
Jochen Bohnes, *1959, classical piano lessons since early childhood. 1975-77 jazz lessons with Ed Kröger, Sigi Busch, Uli Beckerhoff and Heinz Wendel, 1976-78 classical piano lessons with Gabriele Wulff at the Hamburg Conservatory.
Not commenced studies in painting and sculpture at the HfBK Lerchenfeld in Hamburg 1977.
Music studies at the "Swiss Jazz School", Bern 1979-86. Concert diploma in piano, secondary instruments trombone and double bass. Piano lessons with Joe Haider and Fritz Pauer. Further teachers there: Umberto Arlati, Billy Brooks, Mladen Gutesha, Axel Jungblut, Any Scherrer. Further lessons with Joe Zawinul, Roland Hanna, Joanne Brackeen, Paul Motian, Woody Shaw and others.
Studies of electronic music at the Sweelinck Conservatorium, Amsterdam/NL 1986/87. Introduction to the software environment "MAX" with David Zicarelli at the "Swiss Center for Computer Music" in 1989 upon the invitation of Bruno Spoerri. Further studies in- and collaboration with the "Electronic Studio of the Music Academy Basel" under the direction of Thomas Kessler from 1993-99. Encounters with many contemporary composers, including Luciano Berio, Helmut Lachenmann, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Jacques Wildberger and others. Collaboration with- or work for- various other studios, including SWR Experimentalstudio (former Strobel Stiftung), Freiburg/D, Dir. André Richard; IRIS, Paliano/I, M.A.R.S., Dir.
